The SINGS A menagerie assembles every Wednesday night at the Barn to hear campus talent on showcase. Jam Night is hosted each week by, ‘‘The Strings’’, a band of UPEI students. We caught up to the band members, finally, for an interview this week at their love hut in Bermuda. The band consists of three, sometimes more, males,-two of which are referred to as ‘hippies’. The boys in the band are Shawn Petrie, Sean Nason, and JimO "Leary. Some of you may already be appreciating the new member, but for those who have not frequented the Lounge yet this fall semester, you may remember Steve Leggebeater as the third ‘String’. Steve has left this Island for a much better place ofhappiness. That’s right folks, Jim killed off Steve but was acquitted because of his Newfoundland heritage. Jim then auditionned to be the third String and was accepted purely on the amount of alcohol consumed. The band has a wide assortment of songs all written and produced by other people. Although the band is writing, only one song, The Trip, has been perfected and is quite a favourite. The guys have been writing together since, oh, yesterday, but have been playing, I mean writing by themselves since they have been physically old enough. Their songs are all based on other people’s experience and Donahue, as they have no experiences of their own to draw upon. Other music Sung by the boys are The Tragically Hip, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Brams, and much more. The boys are only in this for the fun of it, they do not plan On releasing any singles, or becoming professional. They only Play at the Barn to get the spotlight and attract the beautiful womey who frequent the Panther Lounge. Don’t be worried 8TOupies, as the men do practice safe sex because abstinence is THE Only way to go. \ So for all those university students who have yet to appreciate the sights and sounds of ‘‘The Strings’’, come on down and have a group sociable and take advantage of the band - their talent, ofcourse!!!
