The train coming from the west vester- day afternoon, struck % an named Thomas Kavanag) who was lying acroes the (rack near Si. Dunvstan’s College. He appeared to be asleep at the time and was apparently uc aware of the epproach of the train. The driver saw bim across rails, but had not time to stop hie track atthe time. The man wason a bare spot where he could not be seen till too late. Had he been on enow the train would probably have been stopped in time, one side and was picked up unconscious. He was taken to the Charlottetown Hosp:- tal, but died about an hour after arriving without becoming conscious. The body was badly bruised, and the skul! was fractured, An inquest will be held tonight at 8 o’clock ia the city court room by Dr. Me Leod, coroner. The jury will consist of Peter Halloran, foreman, Thomas Dover, Matthew McCourt, Jobr Gillis, Michae: Hennessey, Bartlett McKinley and Joseph Hugbes. The jury viewed the body las! evening and ordered the burial today. The interment was in the Peoples’ cemetery at three o’clock. : Kavanagh was about forty years of age.
