They claim that the world’s record_tor any- single job of re-I porting and transcribing was made in this city during the trial st the famous Craven- -Fair ease in 1897. The records show that the trial ol this case lasted ninety-two days, while the coal commission was in session only iiity-six days. The record it sell consists of 11,000 pages ot typewritien matter, or 2,860,000 words, as against 10,- 057 pages and 2,500,000 woras in that of the commission. Furthermore, while three reporters, who relieved sac-h other at Irequeut intervals, were employed in Philadelphia, one only, George W. Smith, the official court reporter, took the pro- ceedings in the Craven-Fair case.
