On Sat~ urday the remairs of Father Daffy, laid to rest nearly forty yeare ago, were disin« terred, placed in a beautiful new casket, provided by Mr. P. D. Hagan, undertaker, St. Ann’s, Lot 65, and removed to the church, where they remained in front of the high altar till Sunday morning. Abou! Afier the first Gospel an eloquent ser- 1i0n was preached by a former pastor Rev. Simps ‘:n:ly Vira Wi Inter- est Catarra Sufferers. In its earlier stages catarrh is more of a nuisance than a menace to the genera) health, but sooner or later, the disease ex~ tends tothe throat, bronchial tubes and even to ihe stomach and intestines, Catarrh is essentially a disease of the mucous embrane, the local symptoms being a profuse discharge of mueas, stops page of the nostrils, irritation in throat, causing coughing, Sneezing, gagging and frequent ‘leartogsa of the throat and head. fhe usual trea ment by local douches, snuif-, salves, etc., often gives temporary relief, but anything ike a cure can only be obtained by a treaiment which removes he catarral taint from the blood and the lisappearance of (he inflammation from the mucous «urface. A new remedy which meets these re quirements and which eo far has been remarkably successful in curing catarrh is Stuarv’s Dyspepsia Tablets, The tablets act uvon the blood and mucous membranes only. They can nardly be called a secret patent medicine as they are composed of such valuable remedies as Sanguinaria, Hydrastin, Eue calyptol and similar cleausing antiseptice which cure by eliminating from the vlood and mucous surfaces the catarrhal poison. Stuart’s Catarrh Tablets are large pleas~ ant-tasting lozenges taken internally, allewing them to dissolve slowly in the mouth, in this way they reach the throat, faces and the entire alimentary canal, If jesired, they may also be dissolved in water and uzed as a douche, in addition to che internal use, but it is not at all neces- koew so well, resurrected for the mom- ent asit were in the closing days of the! 19th century. The Pontifical Mass concluded, the/ ablutions were pronounced over the re-: mains by Bishop McDonald, when the, procession formed and solemnly wended} its way to the newly-made grave under| the shadorof the imposing monument Mr. Edward Duffy, Crarlcttetown, Fa her Duffy was born in the County | Monaghan, Ireland, in the year 1802, and | was Ordained priest in Maynooth College when about 30 years of age. (He hadtwo brothers also priesis). Shortly after his ordination Le came on missionary work to America, end was tor 17 or 18 years in charge of & mission 300 miles in extent,at St. Mary’s Bey, Newfoundland. The hardships and sacrifices undergone by Father Duffy while located there, nearly 60,years ago, were vividly portrayed by | Rev. Dr. Doyle. From St. Mary’s he went to Nova Scotia, and was stationed at An‘igonish fon, 8 for 9 years, at the end of which time be was transferred to Char- lottetown, in the year 1858. Soon he was given charge <f St. Ann’s, Lot 65, Kelly’s Cross and Kinkora. Having coo» tracted acold on the **cold Christmas.’ 1859, by visiting Kinkora, Kelly’s Cross ; and St. Avn’s, in each of which parishes he celebrated Maer,‘ probably his last Mass in these places, he was removed to Charicttetown, and died at the palace on December 1st, 1860,in the 58th year of his age. Before his saintly spirit fled from the clay which was re-ioterred Suaday morning, he expressed a wish that bis bony should be buried et Kelly’s Crose, whose people almost worshipped him, and whom he naturally Joved in return. At the conclusion of the finai obsequies at the gaave, the unveiling of the monus ment took place, the ceremony being performed by Biehop McDorald, assisted by the visiting clergy. The Sacrament of Confirmation was administered at 3 o’clock, p- m., by the Bishop to about 60 children, after which the cemetery was visited by the Bishop and clergy. A TEACHER ADDRESSED.
