Publicity is as necessary to the growth of ebusiness as are gentle rl-lla. balmy air and generous su"as_hine to the propagation of flowers - :md fruits. _ _ _ e An increase in business is bound to follow an adver- tisement in " 'WE » previous to the memorial service the Rev I. S Winfield preached a sermon on behalf of the P. E. I. Hospital, taking fo r his text John. 5; 6. Wilt thou be made whole? The preacher said: When man came from the hands of his Creator he knew ne ills or sickness. And the fact of nature fighting aganst sickness and our aversion to it demonstrates that this body was never intended to be sick. But by the fall of man came death, preceeded by sickness. Without doubt intended and personal sin is responsible for all the suffering of humanity. And in the case of the impotent man Jesus said " Siu no more lest a worse thing come upon thee;" For many centuries man suffered and had to bear his su H’ erlngs with but little sympathy. But the dawn- ing of Christianity brought a revolutl on. the teaching by the Church of God, of th e brotherhood of man and his practical ap- plication ofthe same infused new feelings and desires in the human race with the result that men commenced to devise means whereby they could amelioriate the suiferings of their brethren. The mantle of Christ’s sympathy fell on'the Christian Church with the great results that we see today. The love and care for the sick and suffering is the direct offspring of Christianity. Christianity studies to economise human suffering and this is seen in the magnificent buildings and institutions in our midst. Mr. Wfinfleld then dwelt on the great London hospitals where he had visited. Also the P. E. I. Hospital, which he had also visited. He also paid a glowing tribute to the medical profession, quoting instances of wonderful courage and heroism displayed by doctors. In fact every doctor is a hero, and heroism but a glorious concentration of courage. The reverend gentleman also spoke of the qualities of the staff' of the PL E. I. Hospital and said that soineth-ing more than care was displayed here. He- believed that all were actuated by a motive from a Divine source. The reverend gentlemanalso quoted from the report, and stated that the per centage of clever men was very high. This in itself spoke volumes, and be hoped all present would do all that lay in their power to promote the interest and- welfare of this noble institution, of which- Islanders should be proud. The impotent- mem ill 1'€li¥ W' Ch;-ig; said:--“I have no man toijput me in the healing stream.” Brethren. W5 11°” thatbesaid to-day. But by your liberal offerings to-day you all may assist in putting the sick inthe way' of healing; A collection for the Hospital was iakeh “D at the close of the service.
