Grerman —French colonization in Africa has vot beea fortunate Lately a very unfortwo ate affair occurrec, in which ove French expedition killed a number of the members of another French party. The killiwg occurred on July 14, the date of the French National feie. Ii ap- pears that on news being received of the barbarity of the Voulet Chanine mission towards the natives in the march towards Chad, the Dupuy ministry instructed Lien- tenant~Colonel Klobb, who was at Karyes, to proceed with the flying co'umn, overtake the mission. investigate the charges, and assume command on July 14. The Kiobb party overtook the migsion at Zimber, near Domanger, Lieut. Col. Klobb sent word to Captain Voulet, who replied that h: would shoot him if he edvanced. Not understanciog this threat Kiobb advanc. ed and made himeelf known ito Voulet, who ordered hiw peremptorily to stop. The order was disregarded and when the K lobb party was a hundred and fifty met- res of Vouiet’s troops the latter on his order, fired three volleys which were followed by independert firing. Lieut. Mieunner fell dead. Lieutenant-Colonel Klobb was injured in tke leg by the first volley, and despatched by being shot in the head. Voulet then ordered a bayonet charge and the remainder of the Klohb column fled, carrying their wounded and leaving bésides the two officers nine dead The survivors, ten of whom were wound- ed, reached Deese, under the command of @ nalive sergeant . -_——_- _— French Shore Question.
