     ussing Contents of meetings 
     
     ith other students and 
     
     aculty. No matter what 
     
     the initial discussion or 
     
     the intent of the meetings 
     
     it seemed that the conver— 
     
     ations and arguments ended 
     
     p at the same basis - there's 
     
     omething wrong with the 
     
     irection in which the 
     
     niversity is heading. 
     
    

    
     There appears to be two 
     
     onflicting.attitudes con- 
     
     erning what direction we 
     
     re heading for. The elit— 
     
     ists and/or bureaucrats 
     
     ave one idea and sorrowf— 
     
     lly have the authority to 
     
     ulfill their own personal 
     
     'deals which,in turn,affect 
     
     he entire university comm— 
     
     nity,excluding the before 
     
     entioned e1itists,and in— 
     
     cluding those persons who 
     
     ave their ears tuned to 
     
     the heart‘béaf’of“the campus, 
     
     now or havé”a fair idea'” 
     
     f what direction the uni— 
     
     ersity should be heading. 
     
     en these two factions 
     
     ome together for the pur- 
     
     ose of discussing Univer- 
     
     ity Objectives - Etc -the 
     
     ittle guy becomes strangled 
     
     y the big guy. To put this 
     
     'n blunt terms — we are 
     
     oing nowhere — fast. 
     
    

    
     This brings a lot of que- 
     
     .tions to mind. Will the 
     
    
   
   
    
     Good-bye UPEI 
     
    
   
   
    
     Committee on Aims and 
     
    
   
   
    
     ’Objectives ratify this di- 
     
    
   
   
    
     ssention among the ranks, 
     
    
   
   
    
     or,just cushion the position 
     
    
   
   
    
     of the academic bureaucrats? 
     
     Who would like to attempt 
     
    

    
     to predict the future of 
     
     UPEI based upon facts & 
     
     figures for the past two 
     
     years? Who would care to 
     
    
   
   
    
     rise up in dissention against 
     
    
   
   
    
     our academic bureaucrat's 
     
     manipulation and coercion 
     
    
   
   
    
     of the rest of the university 
     
    
   
   
    
     ,community? ’ 
     
    

    
     Another question — how 
     
     would you answer these 
     
     questions? And what can you 
     
     'and I do about it? we can 
     
     sit back, watch Rome burn 
     
     and say "I told you so!" 
     
     Or,we can make an honest 
     
     attempt to let other people 
     
     know how we feel and maybe 
     
     even attempt to try and do 
     
     something about it.. 
     
    

    
     But it's not only from 
     
     one area that there is 
     
    
   
   
    
     "problems,just go out and 
     
    
   
   
    
     ask an education student 
     
     how things are going in 
     
     that department. Political 
     
     Science,English,Psychology 
     
     is any department running 
     
     smoothly? Is anybody trying 
     
    
   
   
    
     'to find out why everything 
     
    
   
   
    
     and everybody is riding 
     
     on the waves of dissention? 
     
     Ask the Maintenance workers 
     
     the secretaries of the ' 
     
     steno pool are they satis—

     it may give you some insight

     bird. This occurred when 
     
     she set an all time record 
     
     for eating sunflower seeds 
     
     and the resulting effect 
     
     is that we now have to 
     
     cover our apartment floor
