Many! parents and rate-payers were present and enjoyed hearing the prompt and ready answers of the pupils. In the opinion of all present the examina- tion _was most successful and reflects credit on the teacher, Mrs. McDonald who seem to possess u very rare gift of awakening’-and bringing out the latent talent of the little ones under her care. Several of the classes were examined by Rev. Father Allen Mc- Donald, Miss Mary Robertsonand the teacher. 'At the close complimen- tary speeches were given by Father McDonald, James 0'Connel and John Garland alter which to the delight of the little ones, candy was distributed All dispersed feeling very happy and full of the Christmas spirit. WEBSTER’S CORNER.-The semi- annual examination of Webster’s_ Corner School took place Monday, Dec. 22nd lust., and was largely at- tended by trustees, ratepayers, and other visitors. The pupils were ex- amined in the different subjects by the following teachers, Miss Roberts, Misa. Callaghan and Mr. Hugh Train- or, also Mr. Patrick McGuirk, trus. tee, ahd showed by their prompt and correct answers that they had received careful and thorough train- ing. A literary program rendered by the children, was greatly enjoyed by all present, and at its close, Santa Claus appeared in his usual happy manner, and distributed the gifts, confectionery, fruit, etc., from a tree which was beautifully decor- ated for the occasion. Remarks -were made by .the trustees and others complimenting the teacher and pupils on the good work which had been done. Mr. James Beard, on behalf of the 'other pupils, pre- sented the teacher, Miss Ida M. Cummiskey, with s, beautiful photo- album. Tne teacher thanked them for the gift, and wished tham' all a Merry Christmas and much suc- cess in the New Year. The examina- tion was terminated by the singing of 'the National Anthem.
