A FOURTH YEAR AT P. W. C.-» The March issue of The College i'I‘ime.e, the fourth, and perhaps the 'best so far during the present col- lege year, appeared yesterday. The editorials were brief and well writ- ten, containing the usual construc- tive criticism peculiar to the Times. in addition to short, pithy. humour- ous sketches, college jokes, and orig- inal poems an article entitled "A Fourth Year at Prince of Wales Col- |lege," attracted considerable atten- Ition. It was pointed out that the .bringing about oi’ additional educa- tional faculties, in the way of ex- tending the present college course, is imperative. In a province as rich as Prince Edward Island the expense of supplementing the present faculty with additional instructors should be ,no objection. The establishment of a ffourth year would not necessitate :any changes in the existing build- ing, and would provide a stepping stone' w an adequate. university course so much ,needed in this prov- inoe. "Under existing conditions, there are two alternatives offered to an ambitious student who passes the V three year course at Prince of Wales. ‘I-ie must forego his ambition for a higher education or he must attend some university in another province. The number, who of necessity, take ,the former choice is all too many and any opportunity _for further edu- cation is uieneerorward denied to go to work,\ not because they wish, to, but because their families can- not afford to send them to another college. Those who continue their expense to themselves or to their passes out ofthe province, and thus, by blindly neglecting our own op- portunities we are losing a large sum which yearly goes to enrich those in our sister_ provinces.
