SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF CAPTAIN RODE- RICK MACDONALD, WITO DEPARTED CHIS LIFE AUGUST 31sT, 1875, Ox Thursday morning, at the hour of seven o'clock, a.m., on the 3ist of August ult, another of the brave sons of Prince Edward Island, Capt. Roderick Macdona!d, was summoned to the presence cf his Re- deemer. He was born at Bear River, in the parish of St. Margarets, on the 9th ef March, [809. Under the guidance of an esteemed mother early he learned many salutory lessons which in after life seemed not to have been forgotten. In his youth- ful days he showed a desire of purus- ing the seafaring business. This desire he carried to its fullest extent aflerwards, holding the highest certificates of competency as master from the Boards of England and the United States. Je crossed the Atlantic, as master, thirty-nine times, and it can be said of him—what cannot be said of many captains of his experience—that he never lost a man at sea. At the time of his death -he was thirty- four years and seventeen days married, He iivedto see alarge family of children ana grand-children around him. When his last mortal enemy—Consumption—rapped at his j door, it found the big heart of the Captain, as in days gone by, ready and willing. Fortified by the rites of hisChurch,*he gave up his immortal soul to its Giver, in the hopes ofa glorious Resurection His mortal res mains were followed to its last resting place | by one of the largest concourses of people ever witnessed in the Eastern End of the | Island, extending in a packed mass for the iistance of about one mile. <A solemn Re- quiem was offered, and the funeral oration pronounced by the Very Rev. Dr. Mac- Donald, of Charlottetown. Being his own f ntimate acquaintance and former parishoner, | the task fell into the proper hands; hold- ing the congregation in suspense for about ! juarters of an hour. Ritts Physicians Cornered. ROBABLY there are few circumstances P under which a physician labors with more real sympathy for his patient than when called upon to administer relief to an acute sufferer with Chronic Rheumatism. Rheumatism is a disease of the blood, and no substantial relicf can be obtained without clean- ing the blood from the fibrim substances which obstruct the circulation, causing inflammation and pain. The greatest success of the DIAMOND RHEU- MATIC CURE in curing this disease is owing to its power of converting the blood from its dis- eased condition toa healthy circulation. Italso regulates the bowels, which is very essential in this complaint, and no one will read the follow- tog statement, from a well-known Dartmouth gentleman, with more interest and pleasure than those physicians who have a real desire to benefit their suffering patients : Dartmourn, Sept. 14, 1874. Fonrsytn & Co. Gentlemen :—For the two past years I have been severely troubled with Rheumatism, I have suffered the most acute pain, and at times I have been rendered perfectly helpless—being unable to walk, sleep or even sit up. I have tried many physio and used numerous patent medicines, mut T still continued to grow worse. Jt is now about four days since I commenced taking the DIAMOND RHEUMATIC CURE, and the pain has all left me, and the use of my limbs is rapid- ly returning. I bless the day that the Diamond Rheumatic Cure was called to my attention. Gratefully yours, Wa. BRODIE FURTHER PROOF. Haxirax, Sept, 19, 1874.
