     The Black-eyed Susan (Rudbeckia serotina) 
     
    

    
     flowers along roadsides and in dry meadows 
     
     in mid-summer to early fall. It is named 
     
    

    
     after Olaf Rudback, a 17th century Swedish 
     
     botanist. It is a perennial and begins
