THERE are some crsticisms in the Exam- iner about the Northern Light asrangements which are more reasonable than most of the complaints that appear in that paper. We caunot see what there is to hinder the Nor- thern Light from making daily trips as long the strait is free from ice. —Patriot. Lanor Geesr.—Mr. Simon D. SvupposEep Less or THE Brict. ‘‘ NEeBo.” —There are several rumors afloat regarding the loss of the brigt. Nero. We have been informed that the vessel which was seen off East Point floating bottom upwards was seen there a week ago. If this is the case, the rumored loss of the Nebo is not correct; but the fact that a piece of the cabin bear- ing the name of the Nebo, and a piece of a chest bearing the name of James Sears, and the body of a negro supposed to be thie cook, were washed ashore. This is very discouraging to the owners of the vessel and the friends of the crew. Since Tuesday two bodies besides that of the negro have been washed ashore at Naufrage. The brigt. Nebo, Capt. Beet- man, is owned by John W. Bull, of the West Indies, and was freighted at Cascum- pec for New York by Hon. G. W. Howlan. Two of the crew, Moses Gallant and a sailor named Hughes, belong to this city. There were also on board a boy named Sears and a negro cook. The names of the others of the crew we do not know. ‘Provineial Normal School, ee eee The Winter Term of the Normal School WILL BEGIN ON THE 7HIRD TUESDAY IN JANUARY, and all intending students are requested to make application to the Principal, who will supply them with all necessary eer in regard to the entrance examination. To the Editor of the Examiner. Dear Sir,—Mr. M. A. Cameron, with his usual utter disregard for the truth, “ posi- tively denies” that he advertised the capital of the ‘* Canada Fire and Marine Insurance Company” as Five million dollars. I here repeat the statement, as made by me, in your issue of the 22d instant, viz: that Mr. —did advertise the capital of said Company as $5,000,000. When the advertisement was given to the publisher of Chappelle’s Almanac, Mr. Cam- eron distinctly led him to believe, that the sum above mentioned, was the SuBscrIBED Capital. Nothing, ‘‘ whatever,” was said about the AvrHoRIzED capital ; and, al- though the publisher, at the time, remark- ed that ‘‘ Five MiLiron dollars was a very large capital for a Canadian Fire Insurance Company, Mr. Cameron did not, in the very least degree, wndeceive him. The cor- rection, ‘‘ under the head of” ‘‘ Errors and Omissions,’ was made simply for the credit of the Almanac, after Mr. Chappelle had been pointed out the REAL capital of the Company in question. Mr. Cameron had no more to do with the corREcTion than you had, Mr. Editor; but he certainly had GREAT INTEREST so far as the ERROR was concerned. Mr. Cameron’s sentences, between the words ‘‘ Now I would advise” and ‘ the best business on the Island,” are so incom- prehensible that I cannot imagine what po- sessed him to write such a “ collection of trash.” Let me inform Mr. Cameron that when the ‘‘ proper time arrives,’ I will Favor him with an epistle over my own signature. But, in the meantime, so long as No “ false statements” are made by me, it matters very little to the general public whether I write over a ‘‘ nom de plume” or, as Mr. C. asks, ** come out over HIS own signature.” Mr. Cameron is MorE than welcome to my ‘* gratuitous advertisement.” At this sea- son of the of the year, I like to help a fellow creature as much as possible. = Yours, &c., * Pro Bono Pusuico.” Charlottetown, Dec. 27, 1867. “SANTA CLAUS.” 18'78!
