It seems strange that the government should send out such bills in October. One would expect that if these bills could not be sent out at the prop- er time that the date for allowing discount would have, been changed, so that those having to pay such tax would know whether or not they were entitled to, discount. Pretty loose work for the Provincial Treas- urer, is it notl. It is surely up to him to publish the correct date in k9 Central Guardian » _ SPECIAL MEETING of the Jun- iors to-night at 9 o'clock. How long can such work go on without bringing ruin to Canada? Lat us try an illustration. A poor man with a large farm is neighbor to a rich man on another large lfarm. At first, the poor man makes lhis own utensils, or he patronizes ancther poor but stirring neighbor Iwhr. has a workshop and forge. Each help the other and they get along quite wcll. Then comes a. day when the rich neighbor offers to do the poor man's work more cheaply. He goes to him to get his horses shod or his carts and carriages made. He lets his own shop and forge go down. His neighbor the‘ mechanic gets discouraged and gccs to work for the rich man on WfliICS. ' Now, when the poor man comes: ,' Pastor. CENTRAL PARISH {Church of Scotlandi-Rev. D. V.
