Lockhart for the coiigrega- tion calling and the Presbytery of Battleford forcibly presented the claims of this important field. Representatives from all sections oi’ Mr. Sutherlaud’s congregation were present and were -heard as follows: Messrs. Ramsay, Andrew McLeod, Johnson, Stewart, Laird, McMurdo, McKenzie, Brown and Newton Mc- Leod. Tliey all bore splendid testi- mony to- the faithful and efiicient work of the pastor and to the pros- perity which the congregation had ex- perienced under hls ministry. Spe- cial mention was made of Mr. Su- therland's work among the young. After a brief reply-from Mr. Lock- hart und an earnest plea from Mr. John Stirling on behalf of the Pres- bytery and Synod of the Maritime Provinces for the retention of Mr. Sutherland in his present field, on motion of Dr. Fullerton, duly second- ed, the call was placed in Mr. Su- tlierland's hands. Mr. Sutlieriaiid, while' conveying his sincere thanks to the congrega- tion and Presbytery for their splen- did acknowledgment of his services,, yet felt it his duty to accept the call.
