AUTRVS NEW FILM AN EXCITING STORY 0F WILD. STALLION Columbia's new. Gene Autry star- rer. "The Strawberry Roan." will be the next attraction at the Capitol Theatre opening there today. Ac- cording to word-oi-tnouth publicity. Autry's latest seems to be an ideal treat for every member o! the iamily. It's all about a wild outlaw stal- lion, branded a killer, and the man who took on all comers to win jus- tice ior the noble animal. Advance reports indicate that "The Straw- Roan" lives up to Autry'| re- putation for delivering excitement- psoked, clean-cut Western adven- ture yarns combined with house- spun comedy snd melodious prairie ballads. In this picture, the singing cow- boy‘s iamous horse Champion, s.l- most takes the spotlight away irom his snaster. For he is the roan oi the title, and the whole action is centered around him. An added iactor in Champs iavor is that the itlm was shot in magnificent out- door Cinecolor. Important supporting roles are played by lovely Gloria Henry. vet- eran actorr Jack Holt. Dick Jones (one-time lien Aldrich oi radio iame) and Pat Buttram. iamous radio comedian. The Dwight Cummins-Dorothy Yost screenplay tells oi the cap- rure|oi the roan. his throwing oi the youngster who tries to "break" him and the killer brand he gets as a’resuit. Autry allows him to es- cape. hoping to gentle him and then becomes an outlaw hinsseli. How the two finally prove their true worth is said to be thrilling screen- iare. and an experience not to be missed. LEND-LEASE COSTS WASHINGTON.
