The decision was taken at the regular monthly meeting of the council. presided over by His Worship Mayor B.H. Yeo. Yesterday. Dec. 10. was the dead- line for the paying of tax arrears. and all unpaid following that date were to be subject to legal proceed- to begin court proceedings early in January. Following the minutes of the last meeting, the bills were read and amounts to 31,104.22 general ac- count, and 576.00 building account. here ordered paid. On motion the clerk was instructed to issue cheguc of s3.'l.00 to Stewart and Beck as the town payment to bill of 575.75 presented for sidewalk. sirens at either end of the town was discussed. It was pointed out that a. large majority of the people hail not heard the siren on the morning of the fire, and that more should be installed to prevent this from DCCllIl'lIlg in the future The council appointed Fire Chief Mur- ray Johnston, to check the three water tanks in the town each month.
