Fourteen members an- swered roll call by paying dues and one new member was added to the society. A brief devotional service was conducted by the retiring president. Mrs. Leon Johnston, who also tool: the members on a flying trip to three city missions through the isiiidy book. It was a real inspira- tion to hear what women of thr- church are doing in helping and encouraging those in trouble and giving strangers it welcome. They also provide ways of getting chil- dren to Sunday School if they have no one to take them. The treasurers report for the year was most encouraging and the allocation was exceeded. The sup- ply secretary's report was also good It was also reported the transpor- tation of clothing sent overseas was paid for and a box of clothing ri.d bedding was sent to Labrador. Plans were made for a work meet- ing to start on warm quilts for an- other box, tvfisa Claire Burdett wits made a life member of the Society. During the month thirty-one l-nspital and nineteen sick calls uvre made. twenty-nine treats and twenty-one cards were sent to sick and shut-ins. So many members were sick this month it was decided to postpone the installation of officers and of- fillation of C.G.I.L. ceremonies un- til the next meeting. Nicholson, Montague. that his youngest son. Sgt. Norman Douglas Nicholson, age .11 years. was reported killed in Korea. No details have yet been received. Besides his father. Sgt. Nicholson is survived by his widow, nee Margaret Lamont. Heatherdule. and two sons. Jamie and Randy. Three brothers. Harold in Winni- peg, Claude and George in Mon- tague. and one sister. Eileen. Mrs. '1'. M. Llewellyn. Montague. also survive. His wife and sons are living in Saint John. Doug, as he was familiarly known, received his early educa- tion nt lite Montague High School. after which he enlisted for active service overseas during the last world war with the R. C E. M. E. Following his dis- charge, he returned to Montague ulu-re he made his home until 1950, during which time he took charge of and developed the Montague Boy Scout Troop of Ivvhich he had been it member in ,his youth. 1 in 1950 he re-enlisted with the jfl,L'.E.M.E. and was stationed in , tint John, N.B.. where he was ipoined by his wife and family.
