Considering the inclemencyl of the
weather a. large audience was in at-
tendance nt the lecture in St. Diln-
stan’s Cathedral basement last night
when A. A. Bartlett delivered his
popular lecture on "The Alhambra."
The lecture was well worthy of the
many commendatory remarks passed
on it, which were, if
anything, stronger than on
the previous occasion. The
ilistrllctive value of the lecture was
enhanced by a large number of stere-
opticen views. At the close a hearty
vote of thanks`was moved by Alex
McDonald and ‘seconded by James
Landrigsn. This was ‘tendered the
lecturer by William Moran, who pre-
sided.
Monday night the students of
Stl l)un.~vtan's College beard Rev.
Father J. F. Johnson give his excel-
lent lecture, Thomas Moore, Ireland's
poet. Father' Johnson had earned a
well-merited reputation as a lecturer
on Irish subjects and in his latest
subject he has sustained this reputa-
tion. He gave a comprehensive sur-`
vey of the poet.'s life, tracing his suc-
cesses from the time of his gradua-
tion at Trinity College. Moore is to
Ireland what Burns is to Scotland,
and the two stand side bfy side as
the great national bards o _their re-
spective collntries. Father Johnson
concluded his splendid lecture by
saying that no writer has ever sur-
passed Moore in 'touching simplicity
and that Goldsmith alone approaches
the Irish bard in this respect. A
hearty vote of thanks, moved by W.
P. McNeill and seconded by L. P.
Normand, was afterwards tendered
