He was one of 51 candidates to parade here recently in a colorful graduating ceremony before the Commander of Canadian Base Units in Europe. Col. George 8. Spencer of Toronto. The group. comprising solldera from all units and corps of the force. was the fourth to come out of the. NCO School since last fall. The eight-week coursa is a rig- orous training period designed to prepare a soldier to command an Infantry section or an equivalent sub-section of his corps. Cpl. Reynolds rejoined the Army in September 1953 and arrived in Germany last March. His wife. Joan. resides in Soest. Germany. in the Second World War. Cpl. Reynolds sewed in England. This project all the streets in the town for the use of the school children. Fire Chief Doug Coffin mention- ad in his report that the fire depart ment was ready to assist the dis- aster relief committee in every way. Mrs. Cudmore congratulated the Montague Fire Department for being the only fire department in the Province to have first aid train log and artificial respiration train with six receiving Royal Life Sav- ing Awards. The Town Council. cost. Hearty thanks was tendered to them for their support. It is interesting to note that 1,500 persons were enrolled in the swim- ming and water safety classes. Among them was a mother from Piusvliie with nine daughters. who started the summer as a beginner and ended the season winning her bronze medallion. When asked why she was taking the course she re- plied. "so I will be able to look after my children." A vote of thanks was extended to Mr. Clements for his efforts in this successful projact. Mr. MacDonald congratulated the local group on the work they had done. and brought up several points on accident relief and pro- ventlon, particularly in the home. Statistics show that fifty par cent of accidents occur in the home. and of these seventy per cent of the victims are men. In the month of July 23 accident victims were admitted to the Kings Co. Hospital. many of which could have been prevented. Mr. MacDonald also said. that at one of the 36 first aid posts. 51 victims had been treated to data.
