July 6~ (CPL-Gold stocks went against an otherwise firmer trend in today's session 9n the Toronto-Stock Exchange. All other groups gained as selling pressure increased steadily over a Wide "S! 0f Junior Sold Producers. This was the second session in which golds have been under pres- sure since their strong Monday ad- vance. ' Seniors showed losses ranging up to a full point while declines rang- ed up to 10 cents in juniors. Some slight support appeared towards Lhe close. Belief by traders that the pound would be devalued has been respon- sible for some of the recent strong activity in golds. Today's statement from London by Sir Stafford Crlpps that Britain had no intention of devalulng brought slightly increas- ed selling. Gains doubled losses in hose met- als as the group weathered early pressure and suddenly turned up- wards ln mid-session. International Nickel, Consolidated Smelters and Hudson Bay led the gainers. Waite Amulet, Falconbrldge, Nor-metal and Sherrltt showed gains ranging up to 2O cents. A‘ late strengthening in western oils pulled the list well ahead. Anglo-Canadian was up 15 cents at $3.25 and Royallte gained 10 cents at. $6.60. ' The exchangeu closing index showed golds down 1.33 at 9836. base metals up 1.02 at 87.70, west- ern olls up 1.31 at 42.91. Golds listed 40 gains. 64 losses, 36 unchanged: base metals, 17 gainsp8 losses. 2 unchanged; western oils. 14 gains, 5 losses, 5 unchanged.
