OF AGRICULTURE NEWSLETTER ' Election Results Indicate; Some Significant Things An examination of the recent election results will indicate nu- merous significant things. It is not our intention to discuss these matters in a partisan way but one outcome of interest was the evidence of displeasure with the government on the part c Canada's four large centres Vancouver, Winnipel. Toronto, and MontreaL 0f the 57 seats in these urban centres only four went to the previous government. Converse- ly the farm areas appeared to be satisfied to give the old gov- ernment a chance to continue. The above facts leads the Fin- ancial Post which traditionally e. of the urban mass in a clear cut decision in favour of the Liberals was thwarted by the rural minority." In the same and other artic- les the Financial Post demands that this rural political tyranny over the enlightened and com- pletely responsible urban section ofdsociety be brought to an en . Again quoting the Financial Post "the only dynamic factor in the elec on was an urban majority's manifest wish th at Canada should have a compe- tent decisive government for a change.” Again “A straight two party fight with the seats dis, to and whether the equity enters into the matter as to our know- s wor epil-es - tatlon by population generally adhered to. We may be untair to the Financial Post but gen- erally we have been of the opin- ion that it was much more con. cerned with the rights of capi- tal than with the rights and wel- fare of people. For this reason we are inclined to be suspicious of The Post‘s solicitude on the part of the individual voter 0nd to be suspicious with its real concern in attempting to prove its statement that “The real problems in Canada today are breaking and surf Assistance is also oped for rural ponds. and for ledgein no part of the English ' f,‘ m ace ditching. p being devel-l .3906» «Cc 7 .. r A . c . A Charlottetown man called for me that his wife went out to solicit women‘s votes when the ladies got the franchise for the first time, and came back disgusted because some of them were asking money for the vote for which the ladies had been fighting so long.
