A champ will be crowned by Friday night or Saturday afteirnoon. _ These championships should be the most hitterly contested In years. Several strong rinks are entered in the big play and champion Doug Cameron will have his hands full retaining the crown he won last year. of course. Doug is always at his best in the big ones and IILYOIIC who expects to beat him is sure of I tremendous battle. ks will know viihy Oameron is tough it they watch him beat Ernie Richardson this afternoon in CBC curling. When vou beat Richardson, brother, you must have plenty of curliiu finesse. THESE annual championships are really something special. e startliiig u e were here this year that interest in the Consols play wouldn't be as great. After all there is no long trip as a reward. You don't go any farther than Charlottetown this March. However. that hasn't hurt the interest one little bit. In fact. It appears to have increased the interest as the big list of entries for next week demonstrates. The bovs will fight for this Island chamnionship just as hard as if the prize was a trip to Victoria. B.C. Look Out For Burke _ ART Burke has had great succes in the Rendezvous compet- ition and because of this many are calling him to upset the Cameron quartet. It vvag two years ago that Burke and Doug battled in the final on a Saturday afternoon in Februany at Charlottetown Curling rink. This was one of the most spine tingling matches ever wit- well he that Doug and Art will get involved in I Sl‘lIIil8I‘ Situation and. if they do. we wouldn't dare predict I W II ner. course. we don't suggest that nobody has a chance ex flea‘ Of cept Cameron and Burke. There are several others in there that can cause no end of trouble. Some of the ' ks may decide to start "hot" tihi-ough-out tihe competition If they do, g and Art might find themselves among the also-rans.
