XLI. Preventive Offisers, not exceeding more than one for each place, shall be appointed for Charlottetown, Summerside, Georgetown, Souris and Murray Harbor, \vhosc duty it shall be, on the arrival of any of the Mail Steamers or the Boston, llalifax or any other Steamship, to go on board same and demand from the Captain or iperstin in command a manifest of the carg) on board (passengers’ effects excepted) and such manifest shall be prepared and delivered on demand, by the Captain or commandant, to the l’revcntive Officer, who shall, as soon as possible, forward the same to the Collector of Customs for the port. Provided that any Captain or com- mandant of any such Steamship who shall wilfully deliver a false manifest of the cargo on board his steamship, shall be liable to a penalty of one hundred pounds, to be recovered in the vary and manner provided by the said recited Act of the Nineteenth Victoria, Chapter one, or by this or any other law relating to the Revenue. XLlI. All goods, Wares and merchandize, for which no permit shall have been procured, shall be delivered, if landed by the Captain or com‘ mandant of any such steamship, to the Preventive Officer for the port, who shall store the same in some convenient warehouse, at the risk and
