It has been sung blues, ballroom ballad, rock and roll, and other msic traditions. The song was fully published in 2, and popularly revived in 1922 and 1927. In 34 the first “‘ Frankie and Johnny’’ movie was med in the Bronx. Guy Lombardo and the Royal snadians sang a version of the song in 1942... and vis got in the second movie picture as Johnny in 30. gng this classic story and tune Garry Marshall does 29 million Paramount Picture version which stars ichelle Pfeiffer (Frankie) and Al Pacino (Johnny). rshalls underlying social commentary is absolutely arth bringing to the big screen: -being weird is not y positive, but attractive -condoms area good ig -beating women is decidedly Wrong -being gay akay (Homosexuality is treated ina humorous and de tally endearing way). The story centres around Sophie (played by Jenniffer Godfrey), a woman who is posing as a noble woman and a fortune teller extraordinary visited by two young men, Frank (Rodney St.Pierre) and Tom (Gragson Mannielly). Frank tries to get Sophie to tell a white lie to his “‘friend’’ Tom by lying about his future. We soon find ut Frank is not the only one lying.Play directed by Mary-anne Fitzpatrick and stage managed by Jenniffer Baldwin and Tara Barnable and will be shown at the Duffy amphitheatre November 14, 15, and 16. Theatre Society production of ‘‘The Valiant’’ by Halland Middlemass.
