Well the Olympics Shames are over and done with for another four years. The summer version anyway. First off, I would like to respond to the MP who commented that Australia, which pours mil- lions into sports (much more than us), and only won a bronze medal at the Nagano games. Did anybody tell this genius being payed by our tax dol- lars that the Nagano games are friggin’ winter games and Australia doesn’t have any friggin’ snow? Maybe he got really confused when he watched Cool Runnings, but snow is a crucial factor in the success of a country in winter sports. The most exciting moment of the whole games was when Vince Carter jumped over a player from France and dunked the ball. He deserves two gold medals for having done that. It is unfortunate that after I recover from the shock each time after having watched Carter perform another amazing feat, I always feel a tinge of regret. I feel this way because I realize he has moved one step clos- er to getting moved to an American team. There is no way the yankees will let him stay here a moment longer than they have to and, sadly, he too will go the way of the MacGrady (i.e. going to an American team). There are more than basket- ball teams involved in the conspir- acy to get Vince in the States. NBC (Not Broadcasting Canadian), which has exclusive rights to the NBA All-Star game and finals, stopped showing Toronto Raptors games last season. The reason the network gave was that it was not a big enough market. Oh well, I can hope that the Raptors will be able to build a good enough team around Carter and win a couple of championships before he goes south.U STUDENTS!!!
