THERE OUGHTA IE A LAW! Entertainer Coming To Charlottetown Musig iovere end those who appreciate wholesome entertain- ment are looking forward l0 119K‘ Monday evening, when Hem’? li- Scott, the great. American piano- humorist. makes hie apowmwe at the Prince of Wales College Hall, under the auspices of the Y’: Men's Club. Mr. Scott has a com- bination of natural gifts. The most important is a terrific sense of humor, It would be well to classify that Mr. Scott la not to be confused with those cocktail lounge attaches whose piano- loguea are what the sophistlcatee. describe as "risque." His humor is conspicuous for its good taste and wholesomeness, end it doesn't suffer thereby in the least. Mr. Scott's performance of such classical compositions as Llsmt’! Second Hungarian Rhapsody, Scarlettrs Pastor-ale and Chopin's c Sharp Minor Waltii demon- strates a xriooth, effortless technique that pieces him in the rank of genius. On the Pswing” side. he plays Boogie-Wedgie, Rhirnbe end Jitterbug with a sense of synco- pation paralelllng Count Basie and Duke Ellington, His forte of course is caricature and he presents it cleverly. His most. amusing antics ere his im- pressions of a child of five play- ing, "Bellvp, me jf all those en- dearlng young charms" in a recital. Another clever number is his interpretation of a concert pianist making his Carnegie Hall debut, Another laugh provoking number is his Histflry of the Lott Chord. which he claims a 20H“?- man named Arthur Sullivan lost because o! a poor filing system. Mr. Scott has been a sensation wherever he has appeared 1n the United States and Canada. m! Carnegie Hall concert. was so eminently successful that it won nationwide praise from press and rndi0. Kyle Crichton. foremost celebrity critic. in a feature article and review of the recital for Colliers magazine paid e stirring tribute to this great. new concert star. Said w. Crichton. "Hmrv Scott's success mines from hie personality, for he ie one of the nicest lbving Americans. His serious concert numbers thrill audiences everywhere. He penlce them when he launches into his boogie-woogie, He plays like e iworldwind, but. whet is even more remarkable is the spectacle of sedate dowagera in Concert Halls as sacrosanct es Cerneule and Town Hall. and others 1n Boston, Philadelphia and Chicago. howl- ing. He literally reduces the patrons to hysteria with a new form of "art." The Charlottetown Y's Men's Club are to he commend-d for bringing this great artist to the Province, and ea the eeettng at ' Prince of Wales ia limited to eight hundred, all are urged to bbtaln their thtets ¢arly.
