On the first of January 1893. 44 years ago, the firm of Moore & Mc- Leod opened for business in one small store on the present location- Tliey had taken over the business and staff of Perkins 8a Stcrns. The first. partners were Mr. G- M. Moore and Mr. S. A. McLeod. The follow- ing year Mr. W. A. Stewart and Mr. J- P. Gordon were admitted to the firm. All had been employed previouoly with Perkins 8.: Sterns. The four men are still active in the business and are to be seen any busine=s day, hard at work. As business increased the firm bought, out the adjoining building at that time occupied by Goff Bros- Now in addition to the two bulld- ings, which have been combined in- to one. the firm occupies the two upper floors of the building to the north.
