B.. is registered at the Queen Hotel. i DEATH OF l SISTER MARY JOSEPHINE I WIDELY MOURNED 1 l NORTH SYDNEY, Sept. 5-Born May 17,. 1856, Sister Mary Joseph- ine (nee Catherine Mullen), a native of P.E.I., died at Hamilton Hospital on Saturday evening Sept. 2, in her 88th year. i She entered the Sisters 0i‘ Char- ity of Halifax in 1881, and came to Mount Saint Joseph sixty years ago in 1584, one year alter the mission had opened. The Sister remained here for ten years, when she was transferred to Glace Bay. She also taught at Prospect, Lourdes, Halifax and Eathursi. On December 8, 1931, the Sister celebrated the golden anniversary of her religious profession. On this occasion. over one hundred former pupils presented her with a. beautful Gold Tabernacle door, which remains with us as a lasting token oi’ the pupils’ appreciation for their old teacher. sister taught two years after her Jubilee, then retired from the active life of the class-room in 1933. From this; time on, her days were spent in the convent chapel, living for God whom she sought and served. Sis- ter's devotion to the Blessed Sac- rament was outstanding and up to her last illness attended morning Mass in the chapel, even when she livid to make extreme physical ei- - ort Her devotion to the poor and suffering was always marked. and her inquiries for the sick and dy- ing were frequent and loving.
