Interest for the week had reached a high level through the medium of ad- vertising. Decorated posters sup- plied by the Teachers Federation of P.E.I. were displayed in several of the local stores. The matter had also been taken up and tliroughly disscussed at the inoiitlily meetings of the Home and School Assn. On Monday and Tucs- I (luv of Education Week the primary school received visitors; Wednes- ctin and Tliiirsday, St. Marys ('uuxcnl. and Thursday and Friday the High Shoot. The Town Council and the board of Trustees paid an official visit in a body to all schools. An except- ionally large number of parents and visitors attended each day... no sperial program had been pre- pared for the occasion, so as to give parents and visitors a know- iciige of how the different classes are being conducted. This proved to be very helpful to parents in assisting their cliildcrn in prepar- till! their homework for the various classes as they now know what is upcctcd of them. All the teachers are to be highly coniiiiciided on the manner in which they rcccived the visitors and con- iiiicied their respective classes. .. Classes were condiicteci as usual ' I FUN!-:ItAI. J. P. E. 0'Han-p Iiviontague Fire Eepariment Holds Meeting Fire Chief Doug Coffin pregm. ed over the regular meeting of the Montague Fire Department Monday evening at the Town Hall. Following the reading of the minutes of the last meeting, the LUITERDOIIGCIICC was -read. A general discussion took place regarding the installation of buz- zers in the homes of the firemen so that they might have immed- iate warning of a fire. It was pointed out that when the fire alarm was sounded. the Main Street became crowded with the cars of those heading for the fire iuoeding to a great extent the quick passage of the fire truck, and in general impeding the work of the firemen. It was felt that even a few minutes earlier notice to the firemen would permit them to get the equipment to the fire hcfore the street became congest- ed with cars and people. Fire Chief Coffin stated that the fire siren was out of order and would be for some time, but .that an auxiliary siren had been iiiiiitalled and was being" used It Personals Mrs. Otis Jackson. Considerable dis- cussion ensued on replacing the siren with an air horn which. it was stated. would give for great- er satisfaction. Tho matter will be discussed further at I inter meeting. . The firemen have begun work on increasing the storage unit on the trucks for first aid materials and the oxygen respirator. it is considered that this will be I valuable addition to the fire fight- ing unit since the firemen have also been trained in first aid work. Fire Chief Coffin announced that the Parkdale firemen would visit the Montague Department next Tuesday to look over the Montague equipment.
