Meeting _closed with prayer. Girl Guide News NEWS FROM CATHOLIC GUIDE CAMP AT RUSTXCO Parents will be interested to read of the happeningswt Rus- tico Guide Camp. Our Provincial Field Secretary visited on Satur- day and reports that it would be difficult to find a happier group on the Island. There are t-i Guides, including two from Sour- is, 18 from Rustico, 9 from st. Vincents Orphanage and l5 from Charlottetown.~The Camp staff consists of Miss Lucille lVlcQuald of Summerside. Camp Comman- clant. Miss Iphigenie Arsenauli’, Assistant, Miss Lois Arsenaut. swimming instructor and Mrs. Charles Laskey as QM. Other able helpers are Miss Peggy Mc- Quaid .0! Kenaington and Miss Joan McPhee of Bummerslde. It may be noted that Mrs. Charles Laskey of ‘Rustico has been rc- cently appolnted Captain .0! the 1st Rustieo Guide Company. Mr. F. O'Keefe. camp manager wield- ed "discipline in a far too genial manner ,but appeared 1c be very capable and was most popular with the ‘campers (I wonder about that!) Other staff that were ap- preciated was the cook and ha‘ wife, Mr. and Mrs. Gallagher. whose cooking on tested samples was a credit. and all the camp- ers report increased weight in themselves. The cook's seven month old baby had been adopt- ed as the camp mascot and Shu- ley certainly reflected the hap- piness that shone from evpry- one. The camp was fortunate in securing the services of Father Sharkey as Chaplain and he sure- ly worked hard at the ball games Every one knows of the love- ly surroundings at this camp and the 100 acres c! land that are en- joed by the campers. Sanitary arrangements are also very goon- so often a point of doubt with parents, but no worries are w be met with here. The day's activi- ties are planned by a Court o! Honor in the morning. and usual- ly imlurle two swimming per- iods. treasure hunts. scavenger hunts. baseball and a. good rest period is insisted upon in tho afternoon. Shore suppers and overnight hikes provide more fun and variety. The only complaint heard was. that the time was too short and that the last day will be a sad ‘one. ‘Ferdinand the Bull’ apparently complained nightly oi his mighty bellows. no doubt as the snoring that emanated 110.1. a certain tent and, disturbed his usual peaceful rest. _ Many Guides were working for the Athletes and Pioneers badge and also the 2nd Class tests.
