Fairviev". told a Guar dian reporter yesterday‘. He said that this drift ice used consider- able delay and difeiiculty- in the Harry's trips between Charlotte- town and Rocky Point during the day, resulting in her only making four round trips instead of the regular six. The service. lie said, would continue until such time as freeze-ups made it impossible to carry on. Despite the delays, resi- dents of Rocky Point took full ad- vantage of the service yesterday. During one trip in the afternoon, the ferry transported 28 teams of horses and sleighs. plus 50 pas- sengers from Rocky Point to Clisr- lottetown, which is believed to be a record. M1". Jack Locke, Charlottetown meat dealer, was assaulted last night as he entered his boarding house room at 139 Hillsboro Street. Staggered by a blow on the back of his head, he ivas unable to see his assailant in the dark. It was believed, however, that he was attacked by only one man. Mr. Locke had just returned from working at the Market Bulld- ing, just before 6 o'clock when he was assaulted. His room is on the third floor of the house. He told police he was struck from behind just as he entered the room. He shouted for help and his as- sallant fled. Others in the house heard sonic- one running down the stairs. but apparently no one saw the in- truder. One woman said she thought she heard two pair of footsteps. It required two stitches to close the wound inflicted on the back of Mr. Locke's head. City Police are making a thor- ough investigation of the event. Very Rev. R. V. MscKenzie, rector of Si.
