Each year P.E.I. women vie for prizes in these divisions op on to all residents of the pro Vince, and sponsored by the Wo- mens Institutes. Mrs. Ds vld Mutch. Mt .Herbert. is in charge of the week-long display. The number of entries is run- ning about the same as last year. It was learned. and the upsurge of entries in the food class observed last year seems to be continuing for the 1962 competition. All entries must be the work of the exhibitor. and must 11 ot have previously been exhibited at a provincial exhibition. IIANDICRAFTS CLASH The handicrafts class has 59 divisions. including work in cro- eheting, knitting, patchwork, ap- plique, sewing. tatting and em- broidery. Articles in miscellaneous han- dicrafts will range from woven shopping bags to pottery and framed petit point. A special class for work done by women 75 years of age or over will give prizes for pieced "cotton quilts. afghans, floor rugs, crocheted doilies. aprons. socks and needlepoint. The art division will include entries of original oil paintings. watercolors, pastels and other med iums, drawings, pictures and portraits and original de- signs for quilts and rugs. Section two of the art division posters. scrapbooks or drawings. 42 FOOD VARIETIES Entries in the food class will be for 42 different articles. and will range from dark fruit cakes to canned pumpkin.
