THF entertainment 'ven b the _ ~ - 3' .Y Juniir Efidea.vorers:in Zion church school room la~t evening was a decided _ 3 tsuccass. Every seat in the room was titled. The programme was one of _tho best given for sometime. The pastor Rev. D. B. McLeod presided. Everv item on the programme was good and those having the affair in charge de- serve credit for their good taste in the selections. Mr. E. Hill’s solo, recita- tion by Maggie Gillis, anthem by Harry Smith (the little son of our esteemed Water Commissioner) and exercise by nine little girls and the Flag Drill (England and America) was excellent, indeed 'tis scarcely fair to particularise as all were so well rendered. The “home-made” candy furnished during intermission was even better than usual. i AT the public meeting of the Natural History and Antiquarian Society held last 'evening Mr. Bulman read a scholarly and excellent paper upon “Some Efects of Radiation upon Or- ganic Lite.” It is not possible for us to go deeply into the subject dealt with by the learned lecturer, but must be contented with saying that the the tres t- thoughtful student ot natural science, well read in some branches not common- ly mastered by the average' student. The paper was most interesting and opened up attractive channels of thought. The President of the Society (Mr. New- thediscussion which followed the read- ing of the paper, and a vote' ot thanks was tendered Mr. Bulman. It_was announced that Charles Palmer. Esq.. will read the next piper a fortnight hence.
