ANIMAL AND PLANT SIGHTINGS Plants in Flower: July 16 - queen ann’s lace, low hop clover, rabbit's foot clover, brown eyed susan, red and white clover, sweet clover, daisy fleabane, Viburnum (JDM). Plants in Berry: July 16 red-berried elder, some blue bead lily turned purple but most still greyish white, wild-lily of the valley in green berry stage (JDM). Unusual Numbers of Plants - During an excursion in search of the Northern Lapwing, Dave Stewart’s sharp eyes picked out the first 4 leaved clover at the base of a Fullerton’s Marsh grain field.‘ In short order dozens were found, all in the wash out area at the base of this field. Northern Gannet - many seen off the ferry on Sept. 19 (RP, RC, LT, JWa, GM, JDM); Great Blue Heron - 58 feeding off Riverside Drive on Jul. 24 (EC), 30 feeding within 100 meters on each end of the down river side of the Hillsborough River Bridge on July 24 near low tide (JDM); Canada Geese - heard calling in flight at Beech Grove on Sept. 7 (JDM), 50 at Cousin’s Shore on Sept. 6-7 (N&SB), 150 at Cavendish on Sept. 10 (G&FM); Ruddy Duck - 3 females or immatures at Twin Shores on Aug. 28 (G&FM); Black Vulture - 1 at Ram Island on two days in July 21-22 (ATF,PYD) and seen feeding the week before, 1 at East Point on Aug. 7 (SC,RC) and still there Sept. 25 (JWa); Northern Goshawk - immature at North Cape on Aug. 29 (RC); Red Tailed Hawk — 1 at Appin Road on May 22 and on Aug. 29 (EC); Rough-legged Hawk - 2 at Bookvale on Aug. 14 and 1 on Aug. 29 (EC), 1 at Point Prim on Aug 29 (DW); Bald Eagle _12-
