Bostrox, Aug 3.—A Boston uphoisterer bas turned magician and says he k nows how to make sappbires, rubies, &:., as | good as those turned out by nature. His name is Albert J. Raby, which may | have something todo with his penchant for precious stones. But ¢o far a: any oue knows he bas not produced any gems of the firat water yet. His own account of ruby and sapphire making is giveu in this brief and vague manner: ‘*Last winter,” says Mr. Ruby, “while looking fora solvent for carbon with the idea of separating the carbon afterward and reducing it to a soluble, hard and fusible form (by the way, I was trying to make a diamond),[ accidentally and with the help of God diseovered the secret of crystallization cr the making of the alluminous precious stones, rubies, emeralds, &c.
