(Indium mullet. l IN MEMORIAM WILLIAM PICIEDING ~Penple of Borden and sur- rounding districts were saddened on June 5. to learn of the death of one of Borden's highly respected citizens. Mr. William Pickerinu who passed away at the Prince County Hospital after only a few hour's illness. He had gone to Summerside on Thursday for a medical check- up and later decided to spend a few days with his friends at the Summerside race track. A lover of horses and horse-racing it was al- ways a pleasure for him to watch the drivers training and working with the horses, and he was en- j()_Vlllg his visit with the trainers when he suffered a heart attack. His doctor was immediately sum- mnni-d and he \\'as taken to the P. C. Hospital but his condition became worse and soon his earth- ly pilgriinage was over. Born at Cliltun in 1889. he spent his early years there. In 1920 he married Bessie Underhill and re- sided in French River until ten years later when they moved with their family to Borden. Bill. as he was familiarly known. work- ed as dcckliand on the carferry for 17 years when he was forced to retire. due to a heart attack. Although unable to work since that time he was able to be a- bout and enjoy fellowship with the lll(‘llll)(‘l'S of his family and the iiiany friends who visited him. His sudden passing was a severe shock to his friends, neighbours and members of his family. By his fine personality, friendly smile and pleasant greetings he had endeared himself to all who knew him and the community has lost in him an honest, upright and l‘llKl’ll_\' esteemed citizen. He was :1 loving husband. kind and de- \'nte<"l father and a generous fi'icnril_v iicighbour. The fiirieriil was held on June 7. \\llli a short scr\‘ice at the home and then to Borden United Church where friends from far and near had gathered to pay their final respects to a friend well-beloved.
