Nelson’s last four races were in 1889. He won in three straight heats at Buffalo, August 6, with Lady Bullion second and Sensation third. The time was 2.15, 2.17} and 2.15. On August 27 he was de- feated by Aleryon at Hartford in a four- heat contest, the times of the heats being 2.14, 2.165, 2.174, and 2.195. September 23 of the same year came the race for the Balch stallion stakes at Beacon park in which he beat Alycryon under circum- stances that led to his expulsion from the tracka of the National associations. Twenty-two days later he was fifth in the race for the $5,000 stake offered by the Kentucky Horse Breeders’ Association, be- ing beaten by Jack in three straight heats, Geneva S. second, Norval Third and Aleryon fourth. The time was 2.18}, 2.15 and2 164. Itis worthy of notice also, that Mr. Nelson, hisdriver, is 30 pounds overweieht, while Allerton is driven at track weight invariably.
