Box 415, Charlottetown i i iiiinada Appeals i To The Housewife dlTAwAz-Tiie women of Can- ada are being afforded an opport- unity to emulate their cousins in Great Britain, the United States, Australia and New Zealand, by giv- ing worn out and broken utensils and otherwise useless aluminum articles to help the Canadian Red Cross society. The National War 591M095 DQDB-rt-ment is launching a. Dominion-wide drive for this material, needed in the manu- facture of airplanes and other Will equipment. Conoent ation points will be oom- pounds in the parks and school grounds oi every town and city. Citizens will be asked to bring material to those compounds. All wom out, broken or useless alum- inum articles should be cleaned out of each home and brought to the communtiy pile. The National War Services Department points out; that useful articles, which would have to be replace -. should not be given. Appropriate articles would be leaky poi-s. pans which bum only 1n one spot. old shoe trees, broken shakers, golf club, may; will not be used again, and broken lmrts of washing machines and sweepers. The Department asks for all aluminum articles which are not required in home or shop. The material collected in thlg 91110991811 will be rushed to Can- adian factories engaged 1n n-mnn. torturing airplanes and other essential articles of war. 28.000 lbs. of this aluminum will build a modern bomber plane and 4,000 lbs. a modem fighter plane. Every Canadian woman is amp. ious to do her utmost to assist in the success ul prosecution of the war. Here is an opportunty for her to make a most valuable con- tribution to the war effort. Those 01d Dots and pans, which she can so easily collect and bring to com- "limit-y DUB. wiil make bombers and fighters. Those very bombgrg and fighters may b, the deciding factor in winning the war. The National War sci-vim De. Dartment will lose no time in mak- ing the material collected avail. able to Canadian manufacturers, and the money collected from the sale will be turned into the wonder. ful work which the Red Cross 50¢. ietl/ is doing for Canadian sailors, soldiers and airmen. Thus the giv- ing of useless aluminum ware 1n "Ii-s campaign serves the double purpose of providing much heeded material for war vehicles and of sen-sting one of the noblest of the war charities. The aluminum drive will be con- ducted on specific date; as follows; Ontario and Quebec September 5 and 8; Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta. September 12 and 18; The Maritime Provinces and British Columbia, September 19 and 20; These dates are arranged to afford proper marketing arrange. merits.
