April 30th in the 0I1.eary United Church. The guest speaker will be Rev. Michael Varro returned missionary from China of the Nazarene Church. He will dis- play curios: dress in Chinese gowns and show colored slides. The spe- cial soloist in Miss Evelyn Gay of Knutaford. Everybody is very cor- dlally welcomed to hear and ace this gifted speaker. The Dunblane Women's Institute met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Percy MacPherson. The meeting opened with singing "Coming Through The Rye". The roll call was responded to by thirteen members. each contributing two ar- ticles to a grab bag. Thirty vis- itor; were present. Quilt pieces were brought in and hosted after the meeting. The sick committee reported one call made by Mrs. Livingstone and Mrs. Boulter. The secretary reported receiving the Government Grant. The next meeting will be at the home or Mrs. Leslie Gorriil. The roll call will be answered by an exchanlle of plant slips or flower seed. Jolly contests were given by Mrs. Leslie Gorrill and Mrs. Lionel Living- Itone. During the meeting the young people were enjoying games of croklnole in another room and the winners were Norma Gorrlli and Rosamond Maebean who were given a free lunch. The meeting closed by the singing of the Na- tional Anthem. The lunch was served by the hostesses. After singing some old songs. all re- turned to their homes, having spent a very enjoyable evening. A telegram was received by Mr. Watson Sllliker of O'Leary con- veying the lad news of the suit- den death in New Glasgow of his cousin. Mr. Daniel Sililker. at the age of 80 years. A son of Mr. and Mrs. James Sllliker of Knutrtord, P. E. I.. Mr. Silllker attended church service on Sunday and as usual on Monday was at his place of business and seemed in perfect- ly good health when retiring on Monday night but early Tuesday morning suffered a stroke from which he never rallied. The ser- vice was held on Thursday after- New Glasgow and was conducted by the pastor. Rev. B. S. Dunn. assisted by Rev. B. G. Manzer. H-. was a deacon of the church and seldom missed a Sunday service or a mid-week service and was thu choice of president when the First Baptist Brotherhood was organ- iud on June 21st. 1945. Rev.
