According to our telegranis yesterday there is go-
ing to be some defection from the Unionist ranks on the
question of the_tarifl`. This defection, however, is not
going to iniperil the Union Government, as its majority
in the House is considerably larger than that of the men
who cannot take the Government vie\v of the question.
Moreover, many of the Liberals, especially the Eastern
members, are out and out protectionists, and will not fall
in with the views of the extremists east or \vest_ Ontario,
Quebec and li-iaritinie I’rovince Liberals are not in favor
of a radical tariff re._liictlon and very many of them will
shy clear of any reduction. This view is not by any means
confined to the inanufacturers. In these provinces the

l. Phe word street in this by-law shallinean
and include any public road, street, lane, alley or
other means of communication, and the word
‘ve'hicle" shall include every description of wagon,
hiiggv, _cart, sleigh, motor-cycle, motor-truck or
autoniobile.  '
2. Vehicles shall keep tofthe _left and as near
tlie curb as circuin_stances and the weather `condi~
tions permit. - - .
_ ll. Any vehicle meeting another Shall pass to
the left, and overtaking another shall Pass tothe
i'i_i;~lit, :ind all vehicles rc-quiring to stop at the ‘curb
shall do so with their left side next to the curb.~.
4. Vehicles requiriiig' to turn or slow up shall
give \'-isihlc and .audible warning, and if turning to
the left iiito another street shall keep close to the
curb, and' if turning to the right shall do so only af-
ter pass-iii_e'_the centre of intersection of the streets.
No vehicle shall pass or attempt to pass another
vehicle while turning' at a crossing.
V 5. Vehicles requiring to cross from one side of
the street to the other shall do so in such a manner
as to headin the same direction as other trafiic on
that side of the street, and so as not to stop with

6. Vehicles shall not stop at or obstruct‘cross_-
