In the federal arena Mr. Anglin formerly a Con- servative, drifted into the Liberal camp. Mr.Costigan remained Con-_ servative and in due time became af supporter of Sir John Macdonaldf His fidelity to the Chieftain and the security of his seat in Victoria, a soundjudgement and good abilities led to him to his beinggiven a cabi- net position in 1882 when hef became Minister of Island Revenue.That posi- tion beheld till 1892.
