Under the management of Miss Jean Macdonald. R.N.. the conval- escent home is situated in the heart of the town and many will recognize it as the Macdonaid home. which is a very familiar landmark in this town. The house was owned and built over ninety years by Augustine C. Macdonald. who was born in Pan- mure Island. in 1837. In 1855. when 18 years of ago, Mr. Macdonaid moved to Mont- ague. at. which time there were only four houses, owned by John Annear, Martin Lambert. John Lemon. and Mr. Watson. A few years after moving here he began a general store in its part. of his home. and later located on the present site where Stewart and Beck's now stands. He was ping and exporting of produce. For severll years Mr. Macdon- ald was a member of the local Legislature, and for twenty-five years was a member of the Fed-. eral House of Co mons. in 1915 he was elected Lieut.-Governor or P. 21.1., but died before his term was ended. when 82 years of age.
