Two years ago he was ob- liged to undergo a serious opera- tion and after a time resumed nil Work. However. ill-health return- ed and in spite of the best medi- cal skill and tender nursing. by hl-s family. he gradually weakcned until the end came on the above mentioned date. The late Mr. Thompson played a prominent part in ill community activities for many years and will be great- ly missed by all citizens of Ken- sington and surrounding districts. His dynamic energy and self-sacri- ficing spirit made him always re-l-i .' and willing to help any worth- while community undertaking. For fifteen years he served on the Kensinston School board and was beloved by teachers and pupils. As a_mark of respect for such ‘on; and meritorious service the pupils oi’ Kensington School marched J the church and formed a guard of honor through which his funeral procession passed. As a director of the Kensington Rink for nnnv years he fostered winter sports and the many hockey teams he contacted Nspocied him for his fairness and impartiality in his dealings with them. ' He was the local representative of the Great West Life and Mutual Fire Insurance Companies and in this capacity became acquaint- ed with a large number oi‘ peapie who sincerely mourn his nasmng. Ha was connected with all nine Victory Loan Campaigns and mi instrumental in putting them nib over the top in this district. He was a faithful member of Si. Mark's Anglican Church. Besides his sorrowing widow (nee Harriet) Walker he leaves to mourn one daughter, Olive, teach- ing in Kenslngton School and tan eons. Allie with the R. C. M. P. at Halifax, N. 8.. and William at home. A daughter. Bertha (Mrs. R. L. Taylor) predeceased him by. several years. One sister. Emma. Mrs. O. D. Beaver of Norwich, Conn, also survives im.
