Your Committee are happy to have it in their power to congratulate the House on the in- crease ef the Revenue, which exhibits a con- siderable surplaszbeyond the receipts of any former year, and as it has been derived, with- out any material exception. from the usual sources (no portion of the Land Assessment being included), it can be attributed alone to the decided improvement that has taken place in the commerce and agriculture of the country. which are the elements from whence its prosperity springs.
