V Happy Jack had been a frll.:h3- encd squirrel ever since he had been carried out on the water by that old log. Now he was still more frightened. He had discovered high up in the sky a last-moving speck. He had known at once that that speck was King Eagle. He knew what wonderful eyes King Eagle has. What if King Eagle should lee him sailing on that old log and should swoop down to catch him. What could he do? There was noth- hi ing he could do but Jump into the water and there he would be as helpless as he was on the old 108- There was nothing to hide under or in. King Eagle did see those two Chucks in a tree. and he did see Happy Jack Squirrel on the old log, but he wanted fish for breakfast that day. From a long distance away he had seen Plunger catch that fish. and now he intended to get that fish for himself. So he was flying fast to get right above the big Fish Hawk. The latter saw him coming and was flying faster than ever, but he couldn't fly fast enough. Even if he had had no fish to car- ry and so he couldn't fly his fast- est. He could only hope that he could keep away from King Eagle long enough to make the latter give up the chase. ARREST CALGARY MAN SHUBENACDIE. N.S.
