McDonald, a well known boot and shoe traveller of the Maritime Provinces. He had been coming to P. E. lslandannually for the last twenty- ilve years and will be missed by the dealerghere. V ' COAL STRIKE ENDED.- The strike of miners in the Acadia Coal Mines has been satisfactorily ad- justed and the men have returned to work. A very large amount of the coal used in Prince Edward island comes from these mines and people here will be pleased to learn that the trouble with the miners is settled. FIRST CATCH A-TGEORGETOWN -The first catch of herring at George- town was made several :lays ago by Mi'_ Henry Boutelle who made a haul of several barrels. Mr. Boutelle has the distinction of having made the first spring catches of mackerel at Georgetown during the past twenty years; . WEDDING BELLS.- A very quiet and pretty wedding took place in the First Presbyterian Church, Edmonton Alta., on April 26, 1916. when Susie Mae, daughter of Mrs. Chas_ Mutch. Cherry Valley, P. E. I., became the bride oi’ Mr. Lloyde Dawson Peterkin. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Dr. McQueen in the presence of a few immediate friends. Mr. Grant. organist of the First Presbyterian C_1l\1I‘ch played the wedding march. _The brides gown was ivory ninon over ivory silk and pearl trimmings, and carried a bouquet of bridal roses. The groom’s gift to the bride was a ring set with pearls and diamonds. Alter the ceremony a wedding, breakfast was served at the Macdonald Chateau. Mr. and Mrs. Poterkin left later for Saskatoon. Sask_, where they will reside. Mr. Peterkin is the son of Wm. Peterkln of Artliurf. A THRIVING INDUSTRY. - Mr P_ A. Farquharson of the island Stock Breeding Company. Ltd., French Fort was in the city yesterday. This com- pany waa started in July last and theirs was the first farm on P. E. Is- land to bc started as a joint stock company.
