Peter I‘. nughes D.D., rector at Holy Roo- ary cathedral since 1981, has been appointed pastor of St. John the Baptist parish, Estevan, according to announcement made by H13 Grace Archbishop P. J. Momhau. over his new duties on August 1. He will be succeeded by RIV- Fr. Andrew J. Phelan, professor at Regina clerl seminary since the fall of 1932. In his ten years at Holy Rosary kionsignor Hughes has won a large number of friends among Catholics and non-Catholics alike. and he was one of the hardest working priests ever to be station- ed in Regina. N0 task was too great for him to undertake, regardless of whether it was of a spiritual or temporal nature. He was interested at all times in the welfare of his parishioners. Monsignor Hughes was born at Emerald Prince Edward Island. He was educated at. the Prince of Wales College, Charlottetown, and graduated from there with n. B. A. degree in 1909. and afterward he studied philosophy and theology at the Grand seminary, Quebec.
