It Was Twenty Years Ago Today The last time Uni- versity Rugby was played on PEI was 1969. It was the same year st. Dunstens and Prince of Wales united to form UPEI now the Panthers take to the Rugby field 20 years after UPEI’s union. The UPEI Rugby Club is proud to an- nounce that they will be playing in-the University Division of the NS Rugby Union. The Rugby team has had ap- proximately twenty four pcople to each practice with a large number of the players withsub- stantial playing experience. Al- though it is a building year for the UPEI Rugby Club, the players’ experience along with a seasoned coach, Mike Lloyd, should p;ace the team in contention for a play- off spot. Mike Lloyd has played the game for 20 years and draws his knowledge of the game from such places as Australia. His knowledge of the game is evident in his three Halifax 7’s Champi- onships, two of which have been earned in the last three years, also two out of three PE] High School Championships with Charlotte- town Rural. Mike LLoyd’s famil- iarity of the game along with a young hungry team should prove for an exiting and promising sea- son. The UPEI Rugby Club will be playing its home games on a new rugby field on campus located be- hind the Barn parking lot. So come out and share in the enthu- siasm of UPEI’s newest sport.
