HON. JOHN A. UMDONALD, CONSERVATIVE CANDIDATE FOR KINGS In the last two Parliaments the Hon. John A. MacDonald was known at Ottawa as "The member for Prince Edward Island." What this implied was that his was the only personalityifrom the Province that impressed it- self upon the House. He is held in the highest esteem and greatly respected on both sides of the House. It W88 no surprise in Ottawa when Mr. Meigh- en included Mr. MacDonald In his Government, as he was one of the out- standing men from the Maritime Provinces then at Ottawa. Mr. MacDon- ald, never-the-less, is cf a retiring disposition. He is not a self-advertiser, and prefers to pursue his even terms, working for his constituency, prov- ince and county, steadily, regularly and unostentatiously. He has been in ilitics since the days of his youth, and was one of the stalwarts that zepresented King's County in the Provincial arena along with Iuch pol- itical giants as the Hon‘. J. A. Mathieson and the Hon. John Macpean.‘ ‘He has been in opposition and in the government in both the local legis- lature and in the Domnion House. A. Stewart, Vice President of the Charlottetown Rotary Clubend its representative at the International Convention in Chicago, summed up his impressions of that great gathering in hi5 ad- dress at the Club luncheon in Char- lottetown today. Rotarian Stewart described the high lights of the Convention, the pageant in the stadium symbolizing Rotary! 25th birthday, the scenes at the opening session, the President's ball, attended by three thousand dancers, the visit In person at the Convention of Paul Harris, the founder of Rotary, and the addresses given by speakers of international fume. . There was no tonic like a Rotary convention, said Mr. Stewart es- pecially an international convention. The new President of the Club, H. L. Palmer, presided today and the guests present were Herbert Grow of the Division of Botany, Ottawa, Ro- tarlan Rev. Dr. Clarence MacKIn- non of Halifax, Mr. James Gas-s of Regina. formerly of Charlottetown. and Rotanan J. M. Shaw of North Attleboro, Mass. The musical program included vo- and Mrs. McKenna. Central Bedeque. She was a woman of excellent character and is sadly missed in her home, where she was the guiding spirit; and in the community where she was always ready to assist at the sick bed of a neighbour; or in any other way for the betterment of com- munity life. She died fortified by the last rites of the Roman Catholic Church of which she was a devout member. The high esteem in which she was held was verified by the large funeral cortege which followed her remains to the grave. The funeral Mass was sung by her pastor Rev. M. J. Smith, who also officiated at the grave, assisted by Rev. Peter Duffy, of Iona. She leaves to mourn her loss a sor- rowing husband, two daughters and six sons: Mrs. M. E. Conway, Bon- shaw; Katie, Elmer, John, James, Peter, Joseph, George at- home; and one brother John F. McKenna, Bedeque. The pail bearers were: Adrian Mur- ray, Patrick J.
