Although the population of the United States is only twelve times larger éhan that of Canada, the Ameri- cans publish nearly twenty times more newspapers and periodicals than Canadians. The total in the United States is 12,607 and in the Dominion 666. These publications are elassified as follows :—- Dailies, 1,237; tri- weeklies, 70; semi-weeklies, 162; Sun- days, 120; weeklies, 10,053; bi-month- lies, 11.
